Do The Most Good

A year ago I set out on a mission to give back. After much thought & research I became a volunteer at Dress for Success. I purposefully choose an organization outside of my community because I thought and still think it is extremely important to support each other's causes. At the time I realized I would likely be one of a few, if not the only guy volunteering at a women's organization. What I did not realize a year ago, was how important it would be to support causes that support women many who are immigrants and minorities, ironically by giving them pantsuits among other valuable tools & services.

In just one year, I have gone from simply volunteering to also leading new volunteer orientations once a month. In one year, I was able to make enough of a difference with an organization by not only helping many women but also helping new volunteers become apart of a terrific organization.

So if on the eve of a hopeless night you are overwhelmed with sadness & despair, remember each and everyone of us can make a difference. Please turn your outrage into action, consider supporting an organization like Dress for Success or another cause outside of your community. Believe me a year is over in the blink of the eye, and what is going to happen is largely going to happen. But to think we can personally do some good along the way might just make the next four years something to feel a little better about.

As a wise woman once quoted: β€œDo all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”
