La La Land may have won a record 7 Golden Globes at this year's awards, but Meryl Streep won the evening with a speech everyone needed to hear.

She is my hero on so many levels. Meryl has not only played some of my favorite characters like Miranda Priestly, but she also has a history of standing up for what is right. Are we surprised she dedicated her Golden Globes lifetime achievement award to doing just that? Her words underscore the power of empathy.
